Employee Spotlight: Chip Joseph

Chip Joseph, Senior Manager, Global Talent Acquisition, is an Oakwood University alum who loves people, music, and his children. He sees talent acquisition like a dating service, where the goal is to match the perfect person with the ideal team, project, job, and department. And he’s enthusiastic about the human connection he makes with each potential employee.

Get to know Chip…

Describe tms culture to a potential employee.

We are a “people first” oriented environment. I’ve never worked in a space as authentic and organic as tms.

During your time at tms, what project are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of my contribution to the DE&I initiatives. I’ve been responsible directly or indirectly for multiple diverse hires. I’m also responsible for the most recent hire of the DE&I lead for tms — very proud of that hire.

What’s the best career advice you’ve collected?

Be your authentic self, period. The closer you are to being 100% of yourself, the better for you and the organization.

If money was no object, what would you do as a career?

I would be a music concert promoter, although that would hopefully mean I would make a lot of money. 🙂 I LOVE music and bringing that passion to other people would be my dream career.

What is your life like outside of work?

I am happily married to my wife Nikki Joseph — 28 years and counting. I love watching sports (basketball and football in particular) and working out. But, to me, nothing better than drinking a good glass of whiskey. Straight, no ice.

What is your true passion?

Helping young people find and chase their passions in the world. Outside of work, I do a lot with building environments for inner city youth, providing programs and spaces where they can grow and learn in a safe environment.

What person (dead or alive) would you most like to be stuck in an elevator with?

No question it would be former president Barack Obama. I would love to know what he’s REALLY like in a tell-all conversation with nothing off limits.

What are your top five all-time favorite bands, musical groups, or artists that you will always love?
Sting, New Edition, 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar, and most 80s, 90s R&B but not in that order

What are you currently binge-watching?
Atlanta on Hulu, and Ted Lasso on AppleTV

What was your favorite word of 2022?
Vicissitudes — it’s when you’re referring to the difficult times we go through. In today’s world, you have to be able to ride and survive the vicissitudes of life to win.

Feel free to drop Chip a line if you’re interested in one of our open roles or are in need of some career brainstorming!
