In Australia, McDonald’s MONOPOLY® was popular but stagnating. We had to elevate the experience to help McDonald’s connect with mobile-obsessed consumers.
SOLUTION:
Together with our partners, we created a native mobile app that went far beyond the typical property collecting.
We replaced the manual entry of ticket codes with a simple camera scan, empowered users to view their stash of properties and prizes within the app, and introduced three new game experiences, including one using augmented reality.
All of this was powered by our proprietary iWIN game engine platform technology which made the experience possible across both mobile and web simultaneously.
With our partners, we took the McDonald’s MONOPOLY® experience into completely unchartered territory – a first in the world.
RESULTS:
The results were spectacular, exceeding even the most optimistic projections.
App downloads exceeded the target fourfold. McDonald’s Australia enjoyed its largest-ever sales week. And best of all, McDonald’s market share of the Informal Eating Occasion spend and traffic reached new highs.
